Your vehicles tires are the only connection between the road and your ability to control the vehicle with the steering system. It is imperative to have tires that are not too old and have a good tread depth. Tires are susceptible to the harmful UV rays of the sun. When exposed to UV rays for period of time they begin to show signs of dry rot which start out as small cracks also known as “checking”. Therefore, it is recommended not to have tires in use for more than 5 years. Tires have bar inside the groove of the tread called a wear indicator. This indicator has a height of 3/32 of an inch, and when the tread wears down to this point it is time to replace them.
